Consider These Things Before Pressure Washing Anything

Before You Begin

A pressure washer is pretty much a magical machine that makes things like new again. It’s a great ally in cleaning tough stains and treating harsh surfaces. However, before you decide to use the power of that machine on everything around the house, there are some things you should consider:

Pressure Washing

Pressure Washing Is Different from Power Washing

A power washer is a very heavy-duty machine used on areas where there is an extreme accumulation of dirt, weeds, grease, and moss. They are meant for hard surfaces that can easily stand up to the heat and pressure.

A pressure washer, on the other hand, is safer to use on a variety of surfaces. It can easily lift dirt and stains from surfaces like driveways, patios, and decks. It also works well over other softer surfaces, like siding, tiled areas, and wood decks.

Know Your Surface

To prevent damage, always be sure your surface can stand against the heat and power of a pressure washer.

  • Sandstone – it is too soft to pressure wash. It can easily be washed away.
  • Painted items – no problem using the machine. However, it should be used by a professional pressure washer, that will ensure the final result is of your liking.
  • Old items – the power of a pressure washer will likely disintegrate anything old, call it furniture, an old deck, etc.
  • Shingle or asphalt roofing – it’s best to avoid pressure washing these surfaces to prevent costly repairs.

Weather

There’s nothing to think about when you’re planning on using a pressure washer during spring, summer, or fall. If you’re planning on pressure washing something during winter, be sure you’re not getting freezing temperatures on that day. If the water gets a chance to freeze, it will expand and end up damaging the surface you just cleaned.

Pressure washing services are a great option to keep your home clean all-year-round.
